Usually the points leader and main event winners have to start last in the features but that does not apply to special events so the front row was Kent Ewart along side Mike Markley, the fastest front row that could have been and they both took off like a rocket at the green. Ewart managed to get in front of Markley right away and a yellow flew after only one lap was recorded. This yellow found John Wilson Jr. parked into the back wall. At the green Ewart kept the lead holding back hard charges from Markley every lap. With these two battling Rob Butcher was in third and just waiting for one of the leaders to make a mistake.
