Saturday October 3rd was the end of the season at Prescott Valley Raceway and as usual some great racing was had and four Champions were crowned. Each Champion showered their friends & family with champagne and all had giant smiles on their faces. They will all be rewarded at the banquet on November 21st. Everyone is invited to share in the fun.

The Mini Stocks had their second biggest field of the season with 18 cars signing in. All 18 took the green in the scheduled 20 lap feature. Abraham Twiss led the pack at lap one. Kent Ewart, now a two year in a row Champion, took over the top spot at lap two. By lap five the leaders were already in lapped traffic. Russ Cron was in second until lap nine when Ethan Engler, in his first Mini Stock ride, took over that spot. Laps 7, 8 & 9 were all yellow for minor spins and stalled out cars. Engler went after Ewart and was up by Ewarts door several times but just couldn't find the power to pass him. Lap 17 had a two car pile up in turn two as Harley Miner and Briscoe Fabozzi got together. With the time expired it was a one lap run to the win and Ewart went out in style with the win. Engler was second ahead of Mitch Mohler Jr., Mike Markley and John Wilson Jr. 6th thru 10th were Cron, Jason Parks, James McElderry, Twiss and Marty Baillie. Trophies were sponsored by Underdog Towing & Recovery.

14 Hobby Stocks took the green in their 20 lap feature race with 11 still running at the end. D.J. Riley driving "Racine" owned by Mike Mohr led the pack first. After only one lap the yellow flew. Lap two with Riley still leading Joseph Pontin Jr. challenged for the lead. A quick yellow for debris on the track slowed the pack at lap five. With nine laps in the book Pontin Jr. took over the top spot bringing Tim Berner with him and sending Riley to third. After lap five it was all green to lap 20 as Pontin Jr. took home his second win of the year. Berner took second and the Championship ahead of Riley, Joe Flewelling, and Brad Auringer. Rounding out the top ten were Ethan Engler, Jimmy Collinsworth, Donnie Barnes, Dave Barnes and Amanda Baillie. Trophies were sponsored by Shymojoe Motorsports.

The always fast and good looking Super Stocks had a 13 car field but only seven were left at the checkered flag. Jeff Kuykendall led the pack with Wayne Bishop in second to lap four. The yellow flew as George Fronsmans motor let go, But he had done enough to capture the Championship without finishing the race. Lap five Bishop got the jump on Kuykendall and he leaped into the lead. Lap 7 & 8 saw yellows for one car spins. Lap nine Kuykendall took back the lead and put Bishop back to second with Jimmy Montgomery in third. At the 12th circuit Bishops body started flying off and he had to hit the pits while running in second. The very next lap Kenny Gill took over the top spot from Kuykendall and he headed it to the finish line first to take the win. The official finish was Gill, Bishop, Kuykendall, Buff VanLandingham and Mitch Mohler. Finishing out the top ten were Jerry Bullis, David Wright, Lisa Smeltzer, Montgomery and Storm Phillips. Trophies were sponsored by Matco Tools and The Shop in Cornville.

The NADCAR club came in force as 24 Dwarf cars wanted to win that last race of the season. 23 cars took the green in their 20 lap feature. Ryan Henesey grabbed the early lead right at the green holding off Russ Madden and AJ Breau. Madden took the lead away at lap five and then became the yellow. Henesey got the lead back and held it thru two yellows at lap seven. At half way Pat Henesey took the lead from his son, Ryan. One lap later John Ogden got by both Heneseys to take his turn out front. Madden became the yellow again at lap 14 and at lap 16 another two cars got together for another yellow. By this time Mike Williams had made his way up to second and was challenging Ogden for the lead. At the checkered it was Ogden taking the win ahead of Mike Williams, Ryan Henesey, Pat Henesey and Matt Decker. Butch Dunn, Mike Dunn, Tim Cotherman, Helen Henesey and Heather Henesey finished out the top ten. Arrow Redi Mix sponsored the trophies.

Ryan Murphy took the first lead in the 20 lap Challenge Cup Sprint main event. He led it through three laps and then Bryan Swinehart took over to lead at lap four. Lap four also became a red as Dan Bauman flipped in turn two. He was uninjured and after the clean up the race resumed with Swinehart ahead of Murphy and Chris Beal. Tim Beal became the yellow at lap six and the leaders remained the same. Swinehart, while still leading, became the yellow with 8 laps to go and he had to pit with a broken car. This gave the lead back to Murphy who now had Art Mankel right behind him an closing. Murphy held off Mankel to take the win but Mankel III took the 2009 Championship. Third to C. Beal ahead of Troy Mikkelson and Josh Shelton. Trophies were sponsored by Beals Auto Body.
