EWART TAKES 25 LAP MINI STOCK FEATURE!

Usually the points leader and main event winners have to start last in the features but that does not apply to special events so the front row was Kent Ewart along side Mike Markley, the fastest front row that could have been and they both took off like a rocket at the green. Ewart managed to get in front of Markley right away and a yellow flew after only one lap was recorded. This yellow found John Wilson Jr. parked into the back wall. At the green Ewart kept the lead holding back hard charges from Markley every lap. With these two battling Rob Butcher was in third and just waiting for one of the leaders to make a mistake. My lap six the tight pack was already in traffic. They ran green and close to lap 15 when the yellow flew again. Mitch Mohler Jr. needed assistance. The leaders remained, Ewart, Markley and Butcher. One lap later another yellow as rookie Jacque McElderry lost control and spun. It was now eight laps to the big money and the checkered flags. Ewart took it in for the big win ahead of Markley, Butcher, Bill Keeling and Ray Bramlet,
6th thru 10th were Brad Auringer, Abraham Twiss, Russ Cron, J. McElderry and Cathie Crippen. Heats went to Markley and Ewart. The trophies were sponsored by Underdog Towing & Recovery.

The Hobby Stocks fielded their largest car count of the season as 22 signed in all with that win in mind. 21 were left for the 20 lap feature and 16 took the checkered with 11 of those on the lead lap. Dave Barnes led the pack to the first yellow at lap one down. Amanda Baillie had some help into the front wall and was stopped. Before they could complete another lap Sarah Atkinson spun for another yellow. The green reappeared with Dave Barnes still at the point with Trenton Setelin and Randy Auringer right behind him. Lap four another yellow slowed the pace. By Lap five Daniel Romero took the runner up spot putting Setelin to third. The next lap Setelin lost third to Jeff Czoka. With eight laps left Romero and Czoka passed Barnes for the lead and runner up spot. This second half of the race saw a lot of lapped traffic coming into play and passing was treacherous at times. With two laps to go the yellow flew as Christina Collinsworth spun. This set up a two lap shoot out for the win. Romero bested the field with Czoka second ahead of Setelin, Joe Vlasity and Joseph Pontin Jr. Finishing out the top ten were Tim Berner, Barnes, Donnie Barnes, R. Auringer and D.J. Riley. Heats were won by Czoka, Joe Flewelling and Romero. Trophies were sponsored by Shymojoe Motorsports.

10 Open Comp Sprinters showed up but by lap three with a four car crash only six were left to complete the race. John Brinkley led the pack first but Dan Bauman had some trouble the yellow flew and he was wreckered off. Lap three with Brinkley still leading the big one hit. Four cars piled up in turn one, Brian Hosford, Troy Mikkelson, Jeff Perry and Duane Adams. Only Mikkelson was able to continue after the red. After the clean up Brinkley continued to lead the pack with Bryan Swinehart right on his rear tail section. With so few cars on the track the checkered flew at lap 15 with Brinkley taking the win ahead of Swinehart, Chris Beal, Art Mankel III and Mikkelson. Chris Beal and Brinkley won the heats. Trophies were sponsored by Beals Auto Body.

Another steller turn out for the NADCAR Dwarf cars. 23 cars came to the track with 22 taking the green in their 20 lap feature. 18 cars finished those 20 laps with 16 of those still on the lead lap. This is definitely a very competitive group. Cliff Lee took the lead first from his outside front row starting spot. The track was very tacky for the features and these cars went four wide several times to thrill the crowd. Lap six slowed the pace as a spin caused a yellow. After the clean up Lee continued to lead Mike Dunn and Mike Ogden. Another yellow at lap 12 bunched up the pack and now Mike Williams had taken over the third spot from Ogden. Two laps later another yellow as the leaders were now Mike Dunn, Lee and Mike Williams. At lap sixteen Williams got to second by the next lap he left the track giving second back to Lee. Ogden ended his good run with a yellow at lap 17. With three laps to go Dunn took it in for the win ahead of Mike Moyer who had taken over second two lap earlier, Lee, Pat Henesey and Butch Dunn. Rounding out the top ten were Matt Decker, Brian Comley, Helen Henesey, Tim Cotherman and Mike Bracy. Ogden, Bracy and P. Henesey won the heats. NADCAR sponsored the trophies.
