FULL-BETTER RACING!

The second day of the racing Memorial weekend saw yet another great racing
surface as in total for the weekend four new track records were broken. Dee has
the track getting faster and faster.
The Pure Stock Challenge was to be decided tonight and eight racers had their
money down but only two were to take home the extra money. Restarts plagued the
first lap of the 20 lap feature. Patrick Shumaker was leading on lap one and was
taken around by Eddie Bogan. Shumakers car broke sending him to the pits and
Bogan to the rear. Restart #2 had a five car tangle. Two cars weren't able to
continue. Mike Colclasure jumped into the lead first as the race finally got
started. He had Scott Kleintop and Richard Markley Jr. right on his rear bumper
as this trio made it to lap eight before a yellow slowed the pace. At the green
George Fronsman got a jump on Markley and took over third and headed for the
leaders. At half way Fronsman got by Kleintop to take the runner up spot. The
red flew at lap 12 as two new drivers got together sending PJ Pilgrim hard into
the front wall and damaging the fence. After the repairs Kleintop grabbed second
from Fronsman and headed for Colclasure. The trio of Colclasure, Kleintop and
Fronsman put on a driving school as they diced it up all the way to the
checkered with Colclasure taking the win ahead of Fronsman and Kleintop. Steve
Shumaker fourth and in fifth was Jason Parks. Finishing out the top ten were
Pappy Ricketts, Ron Hull, Bogan, Amy Edwards and Kyle Daugherty. Tri City Towing
provided the trophies and the Challenge winner was Fronsman. Colclasure and
Kleintop tied for second so they split the pot.
The Super Stocks had the best race of the weekend and the best race of the
season for this class. 11 cars took the green and the only other flags that flew
were white and then the checkered. Not one yellow slowed the fast paced race.
Even though Fronsman started from row four he took the lead right off the gun
and was leading as lap one was in the books. Now the only thing the rest of the
pack could do was race for second as Fronsman put on a racing clinic and lapped
the entire field. His time was just off the track record. Second went to Buff
VanLandingham ahead of Mitch Mohler, Bill Miller and Brad Auringer. Trophies
were provided by Prescott Valley Auto Brokers. 6th thru 10th were Henry
Guenther, Bill Keeling, Mike Glazier, Pat Biesecker and David Wright.
Even the Super Mini Stocks started with a restart as Abraham got into a couple
of cars and the yellow flew. At the initial green James McElderry flew to the
lead holding back Grady Clements and Kent Ewart. By lap six Ewart had passed
McElderry who was still in the gas and trying to reel in Ewart. A two car tangle
at lap eight slowed the pace and lap 10 saw Clements and Kevin Miner getting
together for another yellow. The last yellow came with six to go and had Ewart
still leading the pack. Ewant went in to take the win and the Underdog Towing &
Recovery trophy. Second to McElderry ahead of Jeff Tarro, Miner and Clements.
Jacque McElderry, Brian Gourlie, Twiss, Kenny Beardsley and Lenna Miller
finished out the top ten.
Day two for the Az. Outlaw dwarf cars brought out a smaller car count but just
as much excitement. Mike Williams again led holding back Jerry Larrabee and Jeff
Adams. Lap four saw a spin by Billy VanMeter and the yellow flew. Kenny Hodgkins
passed two cars to take second behind Williams at lap six. At half way VanMeter
had worked his way back to second and now was reeling in Williams. Two laps
later VanMeter snuck by Williams and headed to the checkered. Williams car broke
at lap 19 and second was awarded to Jeff Adams ahead of Larrabee, John Ogden and
Hodgkins. The Bedrock Remodeling rest of the top ten were Jim Ward, Williams,
Melanie Williams, Duane Hoke and Randy Dutra.
The IMCA Sport Mods saw James Webster take the lead and hold back Bryan Cady
until lap nine when Cadys engine blew. This gave second to Nick Boyd who battled
with Chris Caldwell for the second spot behind Webster. Webster took the win,
second to Boyd ahead of Caldwell and Cady
