The track prep at Prescott Valley Raceway just keeps getting better and better as proved by the 13 new track records set this season. The AMA Modlites new track records in both their heat and 20 lap feature and they ran one of the best shows PVR has seen.

17 Modlites took to the track for their feature as two had scratched after the heats. Steve Bender from his pole starting spot took the lead first holding off Mike Martin and Bud Grossenbacher. As this trio could run all lines of the track it was a great race to watch. By lap six they ran into lapped traffic but diced their way thru it. At half way. 10 laps down, the trio remained the same at the front of the pack, Bender, Martin and Grossenbacher. One lap later Grossenbach made his way past Martin and one lap after that overtook Bender for the lead. Grossenbacher then battled with Bender all the way to the finish as they all had to pick their way thru the lapped cars. Grossenbacher took home the D & O Contractors trophy ahead of Bender, Martin, Nick Gann and Hayden Bender. Finishing out the top ten were David Platt, Ken Young, Troy Korkosz, Rick Gamble and Bryan Dervage. Although John Priest was not able to finish the feature he did set a new track record in his heat and Grossenbacher knocked 8 seconds off the 20 lap record.

The PVR Hobby Stocks had their famous PV start race. A PV start is when they start 4 wide from a standing start as the crowd counts them down. 15 cars were all in one big square as the flag flew but the restart flew right away as Brad Auringer and DJ Riley hooked bumper and were stopped. The flag few again after they were lined up and newcomer Willy Peterson jumped into the lead. One lap later Randy Auringer took over the point putting Peterson to second. They were already in traffic at lap five and lap six saw Peterson get tagged and the yellow flew. Auringer now had Jeff Tarro on his rear bumper and one lap later Ethan Engler took over the runner up spot. With five to go and Auringer still leading Trevor Edwards lost a wheel and the pack slowed. When racing resumed Auringer took it in for the win ahead of Engler, Tarro, Dave Barnes and Rob Butcher. Rounding out the top ten were Brad Auringer, Anthony Larson, Jeff Hallett, Tami Barnes and Mitch Wegner.

Rookie Josh Randall had the point for the 23 car NADCAR feature and used it to his advantage as he led the pack the first three laps and through two yellows. Unfortunately the last yellow was for him. This gave the lead to Brian Comley who had Mike Williams right behind him. Lap six saw Williams take over putting Comley to second with Russ Madden in third. A yellow at half way slowed the pack but Williams continued to dominate as soon as the green flew. With five to go John Ogdens engine blew and sparks flew everywhere. This slowed the action. At the green Williams again put distance between him and Comley and Williams took the win and the K & N Custom Concrete & Landscape trophy. Two laps from the end Pat Henesey passed Comley for second, Third to Comley ahead of Mike Dunn and Tim Cotherman. 6th thru 10th were Rick Godsy, AJ Breu, Steve Kapaun, Madden and Ben Rickey.

The always exciting Challenge Cup Sprints had seven cars all going for those precious points. Johnny Shelton led the first two laps but became the yellow giving the lead to Chris Beal. Beal took it to lap six when Rookie Fritz Croy took over. Croy then held off all comers to take the win. Second to Art Mankel ahead of Beal, Fred Defibaugh and Dan Bauman.
