Prescott Valley Raceway celebrated their 6th Birthday on Saturday July 17th and what a celebration it was! Six classes all going 25 lap features. Only nine yellows in 150 laps of hard racing. The track was fast, the fun was flowing and it was a great night to be had by all!

The mighty Super Stocks started the night with eight cars taking the green. Buff VanLandingham, the points leader, had drawn the front row and he jumped into the lead right away. Two laps later VanLandingham got high in turn two and gave the lead to Henry Guenther. Guenther held that top spot for two laps and then speedy Cristian Fuller took command of the race. Fuller had Kenny Gill and George Fronsman on his tail at lap eight as they started lapping cars. Fuller continued to dominate and the yellow flew with only two laps to go as Brad Auringer and Mitch Mohler Jr. got together. This made it a dash for the win as Fuller kept control and took home his first win. Gill was a close second ahead of Fronsman, VanLandingham and Auringer. Trophies were sponsored by Prescott Valley Auto Brokers.

A pill draw decided all the positions in the starting grid for all the classes and points leader in the Super Mini Stocks, Kent Ewart, was a lucky drawer as he drew the pole position. He grabbed the lead right at the green and led it all 25 laps for a quick race. By lap eight the leaders were in traffic and threaded their way carefully. At half way it was Ewart, McElderry and Kevin Miner. Ewart was picking off the cars on every circuit. With one lap to go he lapped the third and fourth place drivers and at the checkered it was up to second but the race ended. Ewart took the win and received the Underdog Towing & Recovery trophy ahead of Miner, Rod Wright, McElderry and Jeff Tarro. Rounding out the top ten were Abraham Twiss, Steve Brazil, Brian Gourlie, Kenny Beardsley and Grady Clements.

The always fun Hobby Stocks had the largest field of the season with 19 cars. Harley Miner in his big 911 drew the pole spot and led it the first five laps and through a yellow which had Jeff Hallett and Shy Pontin stuffed into the turn two wall with Pontin up on her side. At the green Miner lost the lead to Joe Pontin Jr. At lap nine the leaders started lapping cars. Pontin Jr. had fast Jeff Tarro behind him with points leader, Dave Barnes right on their rear bumpers. Lap 16 saw a yellow as Trevor Edwards needed assistance. Pontin Jr. took it in for his second win of the season ahead of Tarro, Barnes, Brad Auringer and Tami Barnes. Finishing out the top ten were Ethan Engler, Steven Lavigne, Willy Peterson, Anthony Larson and Randy Auringer. Trophies were provided by Barnes Boys Racing.

The IMCA Sport Mod main was flawless. Nick Boyd led lap one but Chris Caldwell took over the next lap and then flew to the 25 lap win. Bryan Cady overtook Boyd for second at lap six and finished there. The official finish was Caldwell, Cady and Boyd who remains the points leader. Trophies were sponsored by Drilling Services.

The always exciting Pure Stocks had George Fronsman draw the pole position for the 25 lap affair. He flew to the lead at the green but after only one lap in the books Scott Kleintop was tapped by Jason Parks and spun on the front chute for a yellow. Mike Colclasure had the second spot behind Fronsman as the leaders found lapped traffic at lap seven. Lap 11 was a bad one for Colclasure as smoke started rolling from his mount and he was black flagged. Luckily the yellow flew for debris on the track as Colclasure exited the track. This gave Kleintop second behind Fronsman with Brian Hussey in the third spot. The second half of the race was all green with Fronsman taking the win ahead of Kleintop, Hussey, Frank Geiger and Parks. Tri-City Towing sponsored the trophies. The rest of the top ten were Colclasure, Tim Berner, Steve Shumaker, Mike HOugh and Rick Barker.

The IMCA Modified feature was another rip roaring event as it sported the most yellows of the evening, 4 of them. A restart greeted the field as George Fronsmans car died before he made it to the flagstand at the wave of the green. John Cox drew outside pole and it took the lead first holding back Bill Slocum and Jerry Clements. Slocum became the yellow at lap two and again at lap three with Steve Stultz also involved. Lap four sawDJ Wood get ran over with damage to his car and the yellow flew. By lap four Ryan Roath had taken the lead form Cox with Clements in second putting Cox to third. One lap later Cox took second and went after Roath. Lap seven saw a three car pile up in turn three with Scott Smith, Clements and Chris Weimer. Clements could not continue. It was now Roath, Cox and now Jim MacNeil had third. By half way Fronsman had worked his way from the rear to take third. The second half of the race was all green. Cox got by Roath at lap 16 to regain the lead. With four to go Fronsman slipped by MacNeil and Jeff Stafford for the third spot. Coming for the white flag Fronsman got by Cox and then took it in for the win. Cox a close second just ahead of Roath, Stafford and MacNeil. 6th thru 10th were Smith, Dave Brinkley, Weimer, George Stange and Stultz. 2nd Home Arizona Realty took care of the trophies.
