THIRTEEN YEAR OLD CHAD BOAT
GETS FIRST MIDGET WIN

Prescott Valley, AZ -- Forced to come from tenth starting on a straight up start, thirteen year old Chad Boat turned heads as he drove to his first Arizona Midget win in just his fifth midget race Saturday night at Prescott Valley Raceway. Boat had an incredible 2004 season when he scored 14 wins and 7 seconds in 26 starts in his mini sprint 600. He opened 2005 with another pair of mini sprint 600 wins and is now busy dividing his time between a full size mini sprint and his midget efforts. He has won five straight mini sprint features and now has his first midget win in his Gaerte Ford powered Stealth. Boat drove underneath Mike Courtney to get the lead and he was out front when the track's 11 o'clock stopped the feature short of it's scheduled distance. Darrin Bolton also got by Courtney to finish second and Courtney settled for third ahead of Bugs Norbury.
The four drivers dueling for the pure stock championship finished 1-2-3-4 in that feature with point leader Steve Rezek winning in front of Bill Moore Jr, Ed Parry and Ron Hull. Rezek also won his heat race and now leads Parry by two points, Moore by three and Hull by 10. Mini Stock point leader Ray Bramlet won their 18 car feature.
Ray Taylor dropped to fourth in points with a 17th place finish and Shayne Durrance ran second ahead of Fritz Croy. Terry McCraw finished fourth and trails Bramlet by just four points.
There were 11 midgets and Cole Houser won the dash ahead of Bolton, Mike Welker and Dustin Burkhart. Stevie Sussex Jr won the pole for the feature by capturing heat 1 over Courtney and Darin Fala. Bolton got the other front row assignment by winning heat 2 over Welker and Burkhart. The track was too wet to pass on and sixth starting Boat had to settle for a fifth. Tenth starting Boat avoided early feature race crashes and had already worked his way to third using a bottom line when a lap four yellow slowed the action. The leader pitted during this caution and Boat got underneath Courtney on the backstretch to claim the top spot. Boat added two car lengths to his lead over Courtney each lap and he was well in front at the early checkered flag. Boat thanked his team for getting his motor back together after problems at Manzanita Speedway the previous weekend. Bolton finished off a big night with a second ahead of Courtney, Norbury, John Sarna, Houser, Sussex, Fala and Burkhart. Boat faces a bigger challenge on June 25 when the Arizona Midgets run a co-sanctioned show with the USAC Western States Midgets at USA Race Park in Tucson.
The pure stocks split 16 cars into three heats, but only 13 survived to race in the feature race. Rezek beat Hull and Brad Bartsch in heat 1 and Mark McWorthy won heat 2 over Jeff Hopper. Parry and Moore were 1-2 in heat 3 ahead of Rob Sanders. Rezek got the feature win in front of Moore, Parry, Hull, Jeff Kuykendall, McWorthy, Hopper and Sanders.

The mini stocks split 18 cars into three heats. McCraw won the opening heat race over Kent Ewart and Wendall Croy. Bramlet had a perfect night as he won heat 2 ahead of Taylor and F Croy. Durrance beat Carl Riley and Rob Butcher in heat 3. Bramlet won the main event ahead of Durrance, F Croy, McCraw, Doug Clements, W Croy, Ewart, Butcher and Jason Parks. Third ranked Ewart is 13 points back of McCraw and 2 ahead of Taylor.
The June 25 celebration and Prescott Valley Days features a mini stock showdown with the pure stocks and NADCAR dwarf cars also in action.
