The North South Shootout for the dwarf cars found the Desert Dwarf Cars from the Phoenix area presenting an entire and NADCAR dwarf cars from the Northern part of the state did the same at Prescott Valley Raceway on Saturday night. For a finale, the top five finishers in each division staged a ten lap shootout. Sandy Matthews took a time shortened win in the Desert Dwarf Car feature ahead of Randy Anderson and Kevin Stalbaum. The NADCAR group agreed to cut their feature to 12 laps to allow time for the shootout and Mike Williams battled back to win that feature over Page’s Matt Lund and Mike Dunn. Williams then added the shootout win over Matthews and M Dunn. Jim MacNeil climbed into fourth place in points with a win in the IMCA Modified feature ahead of point runner up Eric Center, Matt Phillips and point leader Jim Collinsworth. Collinsworth is only one point ahead of Center. Mini stock point leader Ray Bramlet added to his advantage with a feature win. Closest point rivals all finished out of the top six with Wendall Croy second ahead of Casey Lobstein.
The Desert Dwarf Cars had a 23 car turnout and Kevin Cain won the first heat race over Gerald Hardy and Matthews. Russell Hardy beat Tony Martin and Tony Hinsley in heat 2. Rick Kochanowski outraced John Stafford and rookie Aaron Jones in heat 3. G Hardy led the feature until lap 9. Matthews then raced into the lead and top runner Chris Snyder got into the fence. The race was then shortened and Matthews posted the win ahead of Anderson, Stalbaum, R Hardy, Travis Seals, Greg Loper, Jones and Dan Durnez. It was a tough night for many top runners as Cain ran 15th, dirt late model racer Keith Noyes 16th, Martin 18th and Hinsley 20th. There were 18 NADCAR entries and Mike Moyer won heat 1 over Ron Neville and Ryan Henesey. Point leader Justin Randall won heat 2 over Williams and Scott Ward. John Hamilton beat Lund and Helen Henesey in heat 3. The shortened feature found Cliff Lee leading the first 3 laps. Moyer took over but spun to force a yellow flag. Neville then was out front, but he lost the lead to Lund and eventually Williams. Williams won ahead of Lund, M Dunn, Neville, H Henesey, Lee, Hamilton, Storm Phillips and Butch Dunn. Randall was the first car out of the race and other top runnes like R Henesey and Ward also retired. The ten lap shootout between the clubs started feature winners Matthews and Williams on the front row. Williams jumped into the lead and Neville stalled to force a yellow flag. Williams fended off Anderson for four laps and then Matthews for the remainder of the race. M Dunn ran third ahead of Lund, R Hardy, H Henesey and Anderson.
The IMCA Modifieds had a season high 14 cars. After his Canyon Raceway win last weekend, Chris Olexiewicz won heat 1 over Tim Palmer and Phillips. Richard Markley won heat 2 over John Morris Jr and Rod Wright. The feature was restarted when Markley spun in front of the pack forcing Mike Davidson, Texan Justin Martin and Steve Shumaker to spin. MacNeil took a quick lead and the yellow fell twice on lap 3 and once on lap 5. Phillips ran second until Center got by him on lap 8. The race got an early checkered flag on lap 15 and MacNeil won ahead of Center, Phillips, Collinsworth, Wright, Olexiewicz, Ben Peterson, Markley and Las Vegas Nv long tow Sonny Wahl. Palmer finished 10th and is 13 points out of the point lead. MacNeil is only 4 points back of Palmer and 6 in front of 11th place finisher Morris.
Thirteen mini stocks checked in and W Croy won the first heat over Bramlet and Ray Taylor. Lobstein beat Sam Cutlip and Jason Parks in heat 2. All 13 cars started the 12 lap feature, but only five finished despite there only being one yellow flag. W Croy led two laps, then it was Bramlet the rest of the way. Harley Miner spun for the only yellow flag. Three cars pitted late with flat tires and Bramlet won ahead of W Croy, Lobstein, Fritz Croy, Cutlip and Miner. Second ranked Terry McCraw, third ranked Taylor and fourth ranked Kent Ewart all failed to finish.

On July 16, the super stocks return and they will be joined by the NADCAR dwarf cars and mini stocks.
