The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the
orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptance requirement
for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by
participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with
these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM
PUBLICATION OR OF COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND /OR REGULATIONS. They are
intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee
against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official. The Race
Director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the
specifications herein or impose further restrictions that in his/her opinion do
not alter minimum acceptance requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY
SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or
deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their
decision is final.
COMPETING MODELS - ELIGIBILITY
Any American/Foreign made automobile 1970 or newer, front engine, non-turbo
charged compact car .
No convertibles, station wagons, jeeps etc.
Front or rear wheel drives allowed, no all wheel drive or four-wheel drive
automobiles allowed.
Maximum wheelbase for all vehicles is 108 inches
ENGINES
No supercharged, turbo-charged or rotary engines allowed.
Engines will be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc. and with in 1” of stock position.
Engine size limitation: 2550cc.
After-market aluminum intake manifolds allowed.
Heads must remain stock type for make and model of model used.
No dome pistons unless OEM for make and model. Headers allowed. After-market
internal engine parts allowed. Port and/or polishing allowed. 165-PSI maximum
compression. After-market cams okay. Single overhead cam only, rollers rockers
okay.
EXHAUST
Stock type exhaust system only. Headers are permitted. Stock or stock
replacement mufflers required.
CARBURETION
Fuel injection permitted, if car came originally equipped as fuel injected. If
equipped with electric fuel pump, the pump must be wired so that it will not
pump fuel when the engine is NOT running.
The minimum weight following a Main-Event with the driver must be at least 1
Pound Per CC With Driver
FUEL and FUEL SYSTEM
Fuel Shall be Gasoline. Racing Gasoline is allowed. No nitrous, alcohol, or
fuels that will mix with water are allowed.
Fuel Cells are Mandatory. Fuel cell must be centered between frame rails in
trunk area. The Floor pan or fuel cell container must provide protection for
front of fuel cell, from objects coming up under car or truck. A steel firewall,
not less than 20-gauge thickness, must be located between trunk and driver. The
Bottom of fuel cell must be a minimum of 1” above the bottom of the center of
the rear end pumpkin center section. The Fuel cell must be installed as far
forward as possible in trunk area. >The Fuel cell must be totally enclosed in an
18 gauge (minimum) steel container and mounted with two (2) 1/8” by 1” steel
straps. The fill spout is to be located inside trunk. Fuel cells must be filled
from inside trunk area; no filling tubes shall extend to outside of trunk. The
Maximum fuel cell capacity is 12 gallons.
It is recommended that fuel line not be run through driver’s compartment. Any
line passing through driver’s compartment will be neoprene hose inside steel
tubing or approved metal housing securely welded or bolted to the floor and will
be subject to tech approval.
Fuel pumps shall be OEM type manual fuel pumps. Vehicles with OEM electric pumps
must have 3 approved shut off valves.
COOLING SYSTEM
The cooling system shall be an OEM system for make and model. Electric fans are
allowed.
A radiator catch can required, no less than 1/2 gallon, securely fastened in the
engine compartment, mounted in original position. No modification to the hood is
allowed for radiator clearance.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Only battery ignition system allowed, no magnetos allowed. Only One Battery
allowed. The Battery must be isolated from the driver and securely mounted. If
the battery is in the driver’s compartment the battery must be in an approved 18
gauge metal box subject to official’s approval. If a jell cell battery is used
the box is not required, but the battery must be secure. A Master switch is
required within easy reach of driver. The switch must be clearly marked 'OFF'
and 'ON'. Two-way communication radios are not permitted.
Transmission
OEM standard and automatic transmission for make and model. Cars and trucks with
standard transmissions must have working clutch, after-market flywheels and
clutches okay.
No buttons or dog clutches allowed. No stall converters or fluid valves. No
direct Drive or valve transmissions
Rear Ends
Only OEM type car or pickup rear ends allowed. 8” and 9” Ford allowed. No
narrowing of any rear ends. The rear end may be locked by welding, mini-spool or
full spool. Only steel axles allowed. No quick-change devices allowed. No
cambered rear ends allowed. No electronic or mechanical traction control devices
allowed.
Drive shafts must be painted white. The drive shaft shall have a 360-degree loop
of 1”x 3/16” flat stock steel or 1 inch tubing around it place approximately 3”
behind the front universal joint.
Suspension
Suspensions must be stock except adding or decreasing leaves and installing
shorter or heavier coils and installing sway bars. Front adjustable coil are
acceptable. Front struts may have plate added for caster and camber adjustment.
Weight jacks are allowed. Lowering blocks allowed on rear end only. Coil over
and racing shock allowed and must be mounted with in 1” of stock location.
Brakes
Brakes must be operational on three wheels. Brakes shall be OEM type and must
remain in stock location. Disc brakes allowed if OEM to make and model. Shut-off
valves allowed. An OEM style master cylinder is required. There will be no
balance systems allowed. The brake pedal must remain in the stock location.
BODIES
Bodies must be OEM or after-market stock, made of steel, aluminum or tin,
representing the original design of make and model. All doors, trunk, and hoods
must be properly secured. Fender wells may be cut up to 4” from tire. Hoods may
have hole to allow one element of carburetor. Fiberglass hoods are allowed. Rear
spoilers are allowed in cars or trucks 6” high. Reasonable looking grills,
headlight opening covered bumpers. Parts damaged must be repaired and painted by
the next race. Fabricated or aluminum door panels are allowed 20 gauge minimum.
Trucks:
Bed must be covered top or bottom from cab to tailgate. If using a cover on the
top of the bed, it may not be higher than the edge of the side beds of box. Must
be stock appearing measurements. Flaring of fenders not to exceed past tires.
Must have original firewall and floor pan.
APPEARANCE / NUMBERING
All cars must be neatly and brightly painted. All cars must be numbered with
large, professional looking and legible numbers located on both sides, top,
front and rear panel. Numbers must be in contrasting color from body, in all
light conditions. Numbers on the side of the car are to be at least 4” thick and
20” high. Numbers on top must be at least 4 inches thick and 30inches high.
Numbers on front and rear must be at least 5” tall. NO SPRAY PAINTED NUMBERS!
Numbers are to be no more than 2 digit numbers. No letters or symbols allowed as
apart or for a car number.
BUMPERS
All vehicles must have front and rear bumpers that include a tow hooks. All
bumpers must be securely attached to the vehicle. Exposed bumpers must have
return loops to frame or body and must be fastened to fenders and quarter panels
in such a manner that will prevent "hooking". Rear tube bumpers okay.
GLASS - WINDSCREEN
All glass must be removed from the car. All cars must have a full windscreen
existing of mesh in the windshield area (cage to cage) and have a minimum of a
1” x 0.95 center bar. The bar can be either tube ore square tubing. (1/2” square
mesh minimum, 1” Maximum). All external lights must be removed. No rear view
mirrors.
FRAMES
Cars and trucks must maintain original frame for make and model. Uni-body cars
or tucks may tie front and rear stubs together with boxed tubing 2” wide x 2”
high, 120-wall steel must be welded to rocker panel. A uni-body frame can be
X-braced with 2”x 2” 120-wall and tied to roll cage. A uni-body cage must have
6”x6” plates bolted together top and bottom of floor pan to weld to rocker panel
on both sides.
SUSPENSION
Suspensions shall be Stock OEM or OEM replacement parts only. Pan hard bar,
biscuit bars and 90/10 shocks allowed. NOTE: Ford ranger trucks can install
pinto or mustang front suspension in stock location.
STEERING
Stock steering for the make and model. No steering quickners allowed. A steering
wheel quick release mechanism is allowed.
WHEELS/TIRES
Reinforced Steel wheels only. ½” or 13 mm. wheel studs and nuts required for all
four wheels. Wheel spacers are not permitted. No tires may be grooved. All tires
must have a tread wear rating of 240 or more. Offset wheels allowed but must fit
in fender wells. Dual air valves or bleeder valves not permitted. Wheel
diameters shall be 13” 14” and 15”. All tires must fit into an 11” tire gauge
with no resistance. A mud plug of plastic or rubber is allowed on the right rear
wheel ONLY. Bead lock permitted on RIGHT REAR ONLY. NO RACING TIRES, TIRES MUST
BE STAMPED D O T HIGHWAY USE, AND A DIROMETER READING OF 50 AND HIGHER, NO MUD
OR SNOW TIRES ALLOWED.
ROLL BARS
All cars must have a six-point roll cage with a minimum of 3 door bars on the
driver’s door and 2 bars on the passenger’s door. The cage must be welded using
1 ½”, (1 ¾” recommended) 0.95” minimum thickness steel tubing. If the cage is
bolted to the frame, a 6”x 6” x ¼” steel plate welded to the cage and bolted
through the floor pan must be used. (It is recommended that the cage be welded
to the frame.) Bars may pass through firewall forward. Reinforcement of struts
allowed. The Cage may extend into trunk compartment. The roof bars may not
reinforce the body or frame to alter the geometry of the car, or to increase
performance capabilities but only to serve as a safety feature. The Driver’s
side must have minimum 1/16" steel plate welded to outside of driver’s door
bars. Galvanized, aluminum, or exhaust type tubing is not permitted. Approved
padding must be used at any point where driver contact might occur. Roll bars
must be welded or bolted to car. All installations subject to tech approval.
MINIMUM WEIGHTS
The minimum weight is 1 pound per cc with out driver. Example 2.3 Ford must
weight 2300 lbs without the driver.
SEATS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT
All safety equipment is subject to inspection at any time. All safety equipment
must accompany the vehicle at time of tech inspection. All drivers must wear a
Snell SA95 or NEWER full-face helmet with shield at all times the car is on the
track. All drivers must wear a SFI approved full fire suit, of a flame-retardant
nature, fire retardant neck brace, fire retardant gloves, and fire retardant
shoes at all times during competition, or anytime on the track. SFI approved Arm
restraints or a full-size (minimum 16"x20") driver-side window net is required
(no string-type nets). The window net is to be mounted so that the latch is at
the top front of window. A SFI approved five-point (minimum) safety harness that
includes a sub belt, shoulder harness and lap belt is required. All safety belts
must be mounted securely to the roll cage or frame in accordance with the
manufacturer installation instructions. The full harness is recommended to no
more than one year old. Harnesses more than 5 years old must be re-certified or
replaced. A “Kill” switch required within easy reach of driver. The switch must
be clearly marked 'OFF' and 'ON'. The driver’s seat shall be a high-back
aluminum-racing seat only. Rear passenger seat must be removed. All bars on
driver’s side must be padded.
Fire Extinguishers
On board fire extinguisher (2 lb.) MANDATORY, within drivers reach while
strapped in. Steel mounts only, no plastic. All cars will be required to have in
their pits a minimum of one 2 pound, dry chemical fire extinguisher.
INSPECTIONS
All cars are subject to inspection at any time and in any manner determined by
track officials.
